President Abdul Hamid has signed into law six bills, including the Bank Company (amendment) Bill, 2018.

He gave the bills his seal of approval on Sunday, according to a handout issued by a Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat on Monday.

The other bills he assented to the same day are Transplantation of Human Organs (amendment) Bill, 2018; Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons Bill, 2018;

Rajshahi Development Authority Bill, 2018; Groundwater Management in Agricultural Activities Bill, 2018 and Seeds Bill, 2018.

In the legislation process, parliament says it passes a bill and sends that to the President to have his assent to the bill.

If the President fails to do this within 15 days of its presentation to him, the bill is deemed to have been assented to.

In case he returns the bill for reconsideration by the House, parliament can pass it with or without amendments.

The bill is again sent to him for his assent and in the event of his failure to assent to it within seven days, it is deemed to have been assented to.

The bill, assented to or deemed to have been assented to by the President, is finally published in the gazette and becomes an act.
