An electricity substation in Dhaka’s Paribagh has caught fire. No casualties have been reported immediately, according to bdnews24.com.
An official at the Fire Service control room said two units were working to extinguish the fire that started around 8:45pm on Wednesday.
Shahbagh Police Station OC Abul Hasan said an explosion of a transformer at the substation caused the fire.
TV footages showed smoke bellowing from huge flames at the scene.
A resident said electricity supply to the neighbourhood has been disrupted.
