Quader blames Tarique for London embassy attack

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader put the blame of February 7’s attack on Bangladesh High Commission in London on BNP senior Vice-Chairman Tarique Rahman.

"Staying in London, Tarique Zia, is instigating different violent activities", said he.

Qauder, also the Road Transport and Bridges Minister, said it to reporters while inaugurating Cox's Bazar-Teknaf road on Monday.

The road was inaugurated in commemoration of ATM Jafor Alom, who was killed by West Pakistani forces on the night of March 25 in 1971, as per a UNB report.

"The headquarters of Interpol has been informed regarding the matter. International process to repatriate the convicted person (Tarique) was underway to take legal steps against him," he added.

Quader also launched a verbal attack on BNP saying "The leaders of BNP are enough to split the party."

Earlier on February 7, some leaders and activists of BNP ransacked the furniture of Bangladesh High Commission in London.

Later on Thursday, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, also a former prime minister, was jailed for five years as she was found guilty in the Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case.
