BNP objects to PM's polls campaign

The BNP has sent a letter to the Election Commission (EC) registering objection about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's 'unilateral election campaign'.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir sent the letter to Chief Election Commission (CEC) KM Nurul Huda on Tuesday.

The party described about Prime Minister's campaign in favour of Awami League and its election symbol 'boat' at both home and abroad expending public money ahead of next parliamentary election.

Talking about the matter, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said the Prime Minister is carrying out a lopsided election campaign spending money from the public exchequer.

"We think such unilateral campaign is a major obstacle to holding a fair and credible election in the country. So, we apprise the Election Commission of the matter," Rizvi said.

According to UNB, BNP leaders has long been accusing the Prime Minister and ruling party leaders of carrying out an election campaign using state facilities before the announcement of the election schedule.
