Expressing the government’s determination to ensure the legitimate rights of the political parties, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan has said political parties in the country must do politics abiding by rules and regulations.
The home minister came up with the statement at the inauguration ceremony of the newly-constructed office building of Ansar and VDP at Bagha Upazila in Rajshahi on Wednesday, report UNB and BSS.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam, Member of Parliament Adiba Anzum Mita, Director General of Ansar and VDP Major General AKM Nazmul Hassan and Deputy Inspector General of Police Abdul Baten also spoke on the occasion, among others.
The home minister said the law and order situation is good in the country at present as the law-enforcement agencies are discharging their duties properly.
"We will take legal action against those who will try to create an anarchic situation. Those who will do politics must follow a political ideology," he added.
He said construction of Ansar and VDP Model Bhaban in 13 upazilas is progressing and aimed at making their field-level activities more dynamic and time-fitting.
Every force is working very efficiently. Ansar and VDP is one of them, said the minister adding when police can’t be deployed in elections, Ansar members are being deployed.
“Around 2,00,000 Ansars performed their duty bravely when arson attacks were carried out in the country.”
Regarding the killings at the Bangladesh-India border, the minister said, “Talks have been held with India to stop border killings. They (India) also do not support such killings.”
Besides, India has requested the Bangladesh government to take care of the issue of free movement in the border areas, he added. “The government is also keeping an eye on it.”
If there is a problem at the border, an immediate flag meeting is held. The home ministries of both countries are also working together to solve various problems and crises, the home minister said.
In order to make the field-level activities of Bangladesh Ansar and VDP more dynamic and up-to-date, construction of upazila Ansar and VDP model buildings is underway in 13 upazilas of Bangladesh.
The construction of nine Upazila Ansar and VDP buildings has been completed.
