Police sub-inspector shot at checkpoint in Chittagong

An officer of the Chittagong Metropolitan Police was shot, when a search was underway at a checkpoint.

The incident was reported Friday afternoon from Panchlaish area of Chittagong city.

CMP Deputy Commissioner Abdul Warish said Sub Inspector Abdul Malek signalled two motorbikes to stop at the checkpoint in Sholoshohor around 4pm.

“As soon as the police approached to frisk them, they shot Malek,”  Abdul Warish said.

One of the attackers have been held while the others managed to escape, leaving the motorbikes behind, he said, but could not provide any more details.

According to bdnews24, the police officer is being treated with gunshot injuries on the leg at the Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
