Police prove their endurance during students’ protest: IGP

Police have proved their patience during protests by students seeking road safety as per the directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, said Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Mohammad Javed Patwari on Friday.

Police have tried to make them aware of their duties, the IGP said while talking to reporters at a programme at Chandpur police lines.

Although the movement was from the students’ side for few moments, the opportunists infiltrated into the movement to use it for their gain, the IGP further said.

“Police have evicted the students from the street when the vested quarter was trying to capitalise on the movement for their interest,” claimed the IGP, UNB reported.

DIG of Chattogram range Khondakar Md Faruk, Chandpur Deputy Commissioner Md Majedur Rahman Khan, District and Sessions’ Judge Md Zulfiker Ali Khan, Zila Parishad Chairman Osman Gani Patwari, Chattogram Police Super Samsunnahar, among others, were present.
