Police distribute winter clothes among destitute people in city

Bangladesh Police has distributed winter clothes among destitute people in the city to lessen sufferings of the poor people, especially those who are living under the open sky.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun distributed the clothes at Banani Model School ground and Pantha Kunjo in the city on Friday night, reports BSS citing a press release.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Khandker Golam Faruq, Additional IGP (crime and operation) Md Atiqul Islam, Deputy Inspector General (headquarters) SM Mostaque Ahmed Khan and Deputy Commissioner (DC) of DMP's Gulshan division Md Abdul Ahad were present on the occasion, among others.

Speaking on the occasion, the IGP said Bangladesh Police always stands by the people during any natural crisis.

"The severity of the cold has aggravated over the past few days. Helpless people and street children are suffering due to the ongoing cold spell. We are distributing blankets and winter clothes to ease their sufferings. We will be grateful if it benefits the helpless people a little bit," he added.
