Police detain two students over spreading rumours

Criminal Investigation Department (CID) members of police have arrested two students, one of a private university and another of a madrasha, from Farmgate and Kamrangirchar area of Dhaka.

They are said to be accused of spreading rumours on social media during the recent students' protest for road safety, reports UNB.

The arrested students are identified as Nazmus Sakib, 24, a student of University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) and Ahmed Hossain, 19, a student of Jamiya Nuriya Madrasa.

Special Super of the CID (Organised Crime Unit) Mollah Nazrul Islam said a special team of the CID Organized Crime Unit conducted simultaneous drives at East Rajabazar area of Farmgate and Kamrangichar area from 7 pm on Tuesday and arrested Sakib and Hossain respectively.

After the arrests, a case was filed with Paltan Police station accusing them under Section of 57 (2) of the ICT Act on Wednesday, the CID Special Super said.
