Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in a special anti-narcotics drive arrested 59 suspects from different areas of Dhaka city for selling and consuming illegal drugs.
A special team of DMP, comprising Detective Branch (DB) of police and other law officials, launched the drives in various places of the capital, according to a DMP statement issued on Friday.
Law enforcers also recovered 17,610 pieces of sedative yaba tablets, 954 grams heroin, 444 bottles of phensedyl syrup, and 85 grams cannabis from their possessions.
A total of 43 cases were filed under the Narcotics Control Act against the suspects with the concerned police stations in the city.
The drive began at 6:00am on Thursday and ended at 6:00am on Friday, the statement added.
