Police arrest six over Bogura four murders

Police arrested six people, including a couple and their daughter, over the murders of four young men, who were found slaughtered in a paddy field at Baladighi village in Shibganj uapzila on Monday, from different parts of the upazila in Bogura early Tuesday.

The arrestees were identified as Belal Hossain, son of Abu Bakkar, Belal’s wife Naznin Begum, his daughter Natisha Khatun, Abdul Halim Pramanik, son of Afsar Ali, and Rafiqul Islam of Chandanpur village, and Liton Sarker, 28, of Kulupara village in the upazila.

Zahid Hasan, sub-inspector of Shibganj Police Station, said a team of police conducted separate drives at Kathgara and Chandanpur villages and arrested the six for their suspected involvement in the murders.

Earlier on Monday, four young men -- Zakaria, 32, son of Jahurul Islam of Kathgara village in Shibganj, Shahabul Islam Shablu, 30, son of Asir Uddin of Kathgara Chawkpara, Khabir Uddin, 30, son of Samsuddin Mandal and Helal, 32, son of Azahar Ali of Punot village in Kalai upazila of Joypurhat district -- were found slaughtered in paddy field.

Sachets of heroin and hemp were also found in the pockets of the victims' pants, police said, adding that they might have been killed over controlling drug trade and gambling in the locality, reports UNB.
