Police on Thursday arrested 10 people, including prime accused Nazrul Islam, in connection with the murder of a forest guard at Bhujpur in Fatikchhari upazila of Chattogram.
Officer-in-charge of Bhujpur Police Station, Nayes Alam said a case was filed by the Forest Department officer of Hasnabad range Atikul Islam on Wednesday night accusing 16 people.
The victim, Abdus Salam, 50, a guard of Forest Department of Chattogram north, was beaten to death by some miscreants while he was evicting an illegal establishment from a government forest area in Bhujpur on Wednesday, reports UNB.
A group of miscreants, led by Nazrul, swooped on the forest officials and beat them up with sticks indiscriminately, leaving Salam dead on the spot.
