Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will leave Dhaka for Singapore on Sunday, beginning her four-day visit in the city-state.

The visit follows an invitation by her counterpart Lee Hsien Loong, Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali said at a media briefing on Wednesday.

Bilateral talks and a business meeting will be the highlights of the visit - where six deals and MoUs are expected to be signed, according to a bdnews24 report.

Sheikh Hasina will also pay a courtesy call on the first woman president-elect of the country Halimah Yacob.

She will also be part of the Bangladesh-Singapore Business Forum and the Bangladesh-Singapore roundtable in the Southeast Asian country.

Singapore will honour Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina with naming an orchid in its botanical garden, a world-heritage site, Foreign Minister Ali said.

Sheikh Hasina will also seek support from Singapore on the Rohingya issue, according to him.

The Foreign Minister sees the visit as 'politically important' as Singapore is the chair of the Southeast Asian countries grouping ASEAN, of which Myanmar is a member.
