PM to inaugurate 29 projects in Rajshahi

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to inaugurate 20 development projects and lay foundation stones of nine others during her visit to Rajshahi on February 22.

Rajshahi City Awami League President AHM Khairuzzaman Liton revealed the news while exchanging views with journalists at the party office on Saturday.

The projects are: 8 new police stations of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police, 8 buildings of Department of Engineering Education, 2 substations of electricity distribution, flyover of a connecting road of Rajshahi City Corporation and Rubber dam of Barind Multipurpose Development Authority.

The other projects - 2 fire service stations, engineering and survey institute, 3 roads in Charghat and Godagari upazila, union health and family welfare center in Puthiya are also waiting for the premier's opening.

"We will place a demand for 9 development projects for improving living and livelihood condition of Rajshahi people before the prime minister for her consideration," Liton said.

The upcoming projects included a full-fledged agricultural university, two government schools, one special economic zone, a leather city, turning Rajshahi airport into an international one, non-stop intercity train on Rajshahi-Dhaka route, train service on Rajshahi-Kolkata route and dual gauge railway track on Rajshahi-Abdulpur route, reports BSS.

During the visit, the prime minister is also scheduled to address a public meeting on Madrasa Moidan in the afternoon.
