Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday expressed deep shock at the killing of 11 people in Pennsylvania, USA and strongly condemned this barbaric attack on unarmed civilian people at a place of worship.

In a condolence message sent to US President Donald Trump, she said: "We are deeply shocked and saddened to learn about the killing of 11 people in a shooting during a prayer service at a Synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on 27 October 2018."

Hasina said she, on behalf of the government and the people of Bangladesh, she strongly condemns this barbaric attack on unarmed civilian people at a place of worship.

"My government maintains a “zero tolerance” policy against terrorism and violent extremism of all kinds. Such mindless acts of violence must be dealt with the strongest possible measures to stop recurrence of the same anywhere in the world."

Hasina mentioned that the government and the People of Bangladesh stand by the United States and its friendly people at this tragic hour, according to UNB news agency.

"I reiterate Bangladesh’s commitment to our shared core values of democracy and secularism and our resolve to work together against acts of hatred, violence and terror."

She expressed deep condolence to the US President, the government, and the people, and particularly to the members of the bereaved families at the tragic loss of these precious human lives.

She also prayed for the eternal peace of the departed souls.
