Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, currently visiting China, paid tribute to Chinese heroes by placing a wreath at the Heroes Memorial in Tiananmen Square on Friday afternoon.
After placing the wreath at 4:00pm (local time), the Prime Minister stood in solemn silence for some time in honour of the heroes as bugle played the last post, reports UNB.
A smartly turned out contingent of China Armed Forces gave the state salute on the occasion.
The national anthems of the two countries were also played.
Later, the Prime Minister joined a meeting with China's National People's Congress (NPC) Chairman Li Zhangshu at the Great Hall of the People.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is currently on a five-day official visit to China. Both countries expect to strengthen their bilateral ties during this visit.
