Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has directed the authorities concerned to establish a museum on Padma Bridge at a suitable place.

She said the museum can be built in Faridpur’s Bhanga considering the scenic beauty there as well as the connecting roads and flyovers centring the Padma Bridge, reports BSS.

The prime minister gave the instructions while presiding over the 17th ECNEC meeting of the current fiscal year (FY22) held at the NEC Conference Room in the city’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area on Tuesday.

Briefing reporters after the meeting, State Minister for Planning Dr Shamsul Alam said, “Some instruments and equipment used for constructing the bridge would also be installed at the museum.”

The state minister said the prime minister will pose for group photos with everyone -- from workers to ministers -- engaged in the construction of the bridge.

The photos will be preserved in the museum the government plans to construct at the Bhanga end of the bridge, he said.

Terming the Padma Bridge as a structure of ‘national pride’ and it also reflects the indomitable courage of the prime minister as well as the financial capability of the government, the state minister said that the overall cost of the bridge was not higher if the inflation is adjusted.

He said that the Padma Bridge was constructed with rationale expenditure although the DPP of the project was revised several times.
