PM Hasina accepts Saudi King's invitation to attend OIC summit

Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has invited Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to attend the 14th Islamic Summit of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to be held at Makkah at the end of Ramadan.

Acting Saudi Ambassador in Dhaka Amer Omer Salem Omar on Thursday morning handed over an invitation letter to this end to the Prime Minister at her official residence, said PM's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim.

The Prime Minister accepted the invitation and assured her presence in the summit, according to a UNB report.

At the meeting, the envoy said the Saudi King cordially invited the Prime Minister to join the OIC summit and conveyed the King's Ramadan greetings to her.

Sheikh Hasina extended her sincere thanks to the Saudi King for the invitation.

Expressing satisfaction over the existing bilateral ties between the two countries, the premier said Bangladesh shares a special relation with Saudi Arabia now. Bangladesh gives special value to Saudi Arabia, she added.

In reply, the acting Ambassador said Saudi Arabia also gives values to the bilateral relations with Bangladesh.

Principal Secretary Md Nojibur Rahman, PM's Military Secretary Major General Mia Mohammad Zainul Abedin, and PMO Secretary Sajjadul Hassan were present.
