Planning Minister M A Mannan has called for working together to remove misconceptions about Islam among people as it is an inclusive religion for all.

'There is a wrong perception among many that Islam keeps people separate and the Muslim think of themselves as different, which needs to be removed as Islam is for all.'

The minister said this while addressing prize-giving ceremony for visually impaired people who won competitions in various events at a city hotel on Sunday as chief guest.

The Institute of Hazrat Muhammad SAW, in association with Centre for Zakat Management and Unit Hotel and Resorts, organised the ceremony to mark Eid e Miladunnabi, the birthday of the last Prophet of Islam Hazrat Muhammad SAW.

The prize-giving ceremony is a part of the institute's yearly programme on this occasion, to inspire visually impaired boys and girls of different ages on essay writing, Quran recitation, Hamd and Naat e Rasul.

Organised since 2004, this year’s competition included a computer competition after giving training on screen reader software.

A total of 17 students from educational institutions of different districts won the awards this year.

On this occasion, Indonesian Ambassador to Bangladesh Heru Hartanto Subolo, acting Pakistan high commissioner Qamar Abbas Khobar and Managing Director Unique Hotel and Resort Ltd Noor Ali spoke. President of Institute of Hazrat Muhammad SAW Nooruddin Khan delivered the vote of thanks.

The planning minister said the present government has been working to develop all sectors, including creating an environment for moral teaching so that people work for humanity and serve others.

'We believe in overall development, the overall welfare of all people,' Mannan said adding that there would not be any conflict regarding the state's constitution, laws and rules.

Citing some messages from The Holy Quran, the Planning Minister said the messages of the Quran have now been scientifically proven.

He said the messages of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, during his last Hajj, also rule out all kinds of differences between human beings irrespective of colour, Arab and non-Arab, and rich and poor, to show there is no conflict in Islam.

He called for practising the directives and discarding the nature of blaming others saying that showing respect to others can still ensure peace in greater society.
