PGCB eyes increment of power generation

Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB) will set up three new grid-substations in different parts of the country.

The state-owned company will also carry out extension works in 5 existing grid substations.

According to BSS, the new grid-substations are going to be Rajshahi 230/132 kV, Pabna Vangura 132/33 kV, and Mithapukur of Rangpur 132/33 kV.

The five grid substations which will be extended in their capacities are Baghabari of Sirajganj 132/33 kV, Madaripur 132/33 kV, Gopalganj 132/33 kV, Mongla 132/33 kV and Bagerhat 132/33 kV substations.

PGCB officials said they have undertaken the move to implement the construction of new substations and extension to the existing ones in order to increase their load capacity to cope with the increasing demand for electricity in different areas under these installations.

The PGCB will spend about Tk 1.59 billion to execute the projects in next two years.

An official of PGCB informed that the organisation recently awarded contracts to local contractor EnergyPac to build the new substations and extension the capacity of the existing five.
