The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Shipping Ministry has recommended establishing a naval museum in the country.
The information was revealed at the 50th meeting of the parliamentary body Sunday at the Tatiya Sangsad complex with its Chairman Major (retd) Rafiqul Islam in the chair.
The meeting also discussed about the activities of the Payra port, Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC), Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority and Shipping Department.
BSS said the meeting was informed that the government in 2017 took an initiative to install reversible gears into 7,255 locally-made water vessels to avert accidents till December.
Parliamentary watchdog members including Talukder Abdul Khalek, M Nurul Islam Sujon, M Habibur Rahman and other senior officials of the ministry attended the meeting.
