Parliament has passed a new law with provisions of fines of Tk 20,000 for offences such as begging, drunkenness and urination in public in cantonments.
The other offences that will cause the same amount of fines under the new law are open display of disabilities, gambling, threatening, carrying uncovered meat and illegal parking in cantonments.
Parliament passed the Cantonments Bill 2017 when Law Minister Anisul Huq presented it on Wednesday.
The new law with 218 sections is an update on its 1924 version.
The fine for erecting illegal structure in cantonments under the new law is between Tk 20,000 and Tk 50,000.
Traffic rule breach will leave the offender to count between Tk 2,000 and Tk 5,000 in fines.
The minimum fine for running a business without permission is Tk 3,000 and maximum Tk 10,000.
Residents will have to pay between Tk 3,000 and Tk 15,000 for shabby buildings, reports bdnews24.
No pet dog is allowed in the cantonments without permission under the new law. The fine for breaking this provision is between Tk 5,000 and Tk 20,000.
