Over 750 more dengue patients hospitalised in 24 hrs

As many as 783 more people, infected with dengue virus, have been hospitalised in the past 24 hours across the country till Tuesday morning, according to government information.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) also revealed that 57 people have so far died of the mosquito borne disease.

However, local media reports say that the number of death caused by dengue is much higher than the government data.

Of the newly admitted patients, the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) admitted the highest number 64 patients alone.

At present, some 3,746 people are being treated for dengue. Of them, 2,111 are in Dhaka while the rest 1,635 are all over the country.

A total 72,745 people has been hospitalised since January 1. Of them, 68,811 were discharged from hospital after recovery.

DGHS data showed that dengue infected patients started to decrease in September while August has broken all previous records of dengue infection in a single month affecting 52,636 people.
