Over 100 Yaba traders, including 10 relatives of former MP Abdur Rahman Bodi, who had been kept at a police safe house, formally surrendered to police on Saturday.
The surrender programme began at Pilot High School in Teknaf at 11:00 am, with Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan and Inspector General of Police Dr Javed Patwary attending the event as chief and special guest respectively.
A total 102 Yaba traders surrendered to police and deposited 0.35 million Yaba tablets and 30 firearms, UNB reported.
Around 44 people were killed in gunfights with law enforcers or rivals in the district since the crackdown against drugs began on May 15 last. Of them, 40 were killed in Teknaf alone.
