‘Other Asian countries also affected by dengu’

Mentioning that the government has made all the necessary arrangements to control Dengue, Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud on Sunday said Dengue has been a common menace in other Asian countries apart from Bangladesh, reports UNB.

"The government has made all sorts of arrangement to control it (Dengue). Not only in Bangladesh, there has been dengue outbreak in other Asian countries as well," he said.

Dr Hasan Mahmud made the remarks while talking to reporters after handing over awards to 90 journalists as part of their fellowship on Female Health Management arranged by Red Orange Media at Cirdap Auditorium in city.

"We're hoping that the current Dengue situation will improve soon," said the minister.

Denouncing BNP’s activities, he said, "They (BNP leaders) are holding press conferences regularly and presenting the matters in such a way as if Awami League is responsible for mosquito bites."

He reiterated that Dengue has not yet taken an epidemic turn though many people are being affected.

The minister also condemned BNP's claim of providing poor medical facilities to their jailed chairperson Khaleda Zia.
