Obaidul Quader flown to Singapore for treatment

Ailing Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader is being taken to Singapore for better treatment following the advice of renowned Indian cardiologist Devi Shetty.

An air ambulance carrying Quader took off from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 4:12 pm.

His family and medical board members are accompanying Quader.

The Awami League general secretary was undergoing treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University with three blockages in coronary arteries.

Earlier, renowned Indian cardiologist Dr Devi Shetty examined Quader at BSMMU and suggested taking him to another place abroad for better treatment.

On Sunday evening, a three-member medical team from Singapore's Mount Elizabeth Hospital arrived here by an air ambulance and examined Quader.

Road Transport and Bridges Minister and general secretary of Awami League Obaidul Quader was admitted to the CCU of the hospital on Sunday morning following his breathing complications.

Later, doctors found three blockages in his coronary artery following an angiogram.

On Monday morning, Awami League joint general secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif said Qauder's condition is gradually improving. Now, he's a bit better. I talked to doctors. They're hopeful of his recovery."
