'Not wealth and oppulance, serving humanity a must for blood donation'

Mental barriers to donating blood are needed to break to meet its demand in the country, senior secretary of public security division Md. Aminul Islam Khan said on Tuesday.

Mr Aminul said this while addressing a reception function for blood donors at IDEB Bhaban in the capital.

Quantum Foundation organised the reception as part of its regular programme to honour donors for donating blood three, 10, 25 and 50 times.

On Tuesday, a total of 410 blood donors received crests, medals and certificates.

Chaired by Chief Coordinator of quantum voluntary blood donation programme Madam Nahar El Bokhari, the function was also addressed by QF Director Motivation M Rezaul Hasan.

On behalf of donors, gold medalist shooter Asif Hossain Khan and Khadiza Akter Falguni spoke. Thalassemia patient Farhan Tanveer also shared his feelings about receiving blood regularly.

The senior secretary said voluntary donors are enlightened in self-satisfaction, happiness and bravery as they break mental barriers to save the lives of people.

"By donating blood they actually take pleasure of donation," he said.
