The joy of Eid-ul-Fitr faded for many families in Kaliganj upazila of Lalmonirhat after a nor’wester destroyed over 50 houses there on Monday morning when people were preparing to attend special prayers to celebrate the day.
Locals said the nor’wester hit the area at around 7:00am.
In Sonarhat and Shialkhowa areas of Cholbola union, over 50 houses and trees were damaged.
Cholbola Union Parishad Chairman Mizanur Rahman Mizu visited the affected areas and promised to help the affected families.
Kaliganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Rabiul Hasan said that they made a list of the affected families and will rehabilitate them, reports UNB.
