Noor Chy's extradition may take more time

The extradition process of Noor Chowdhury, one of the self-proclaimed killers of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, may take more time.

Law Minister Annisul Huq revealed the information citing some legal complexities of the Canadian government.

The minister was talking to reporters after a meeting with Canadian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Benoit Prefontaine at the secretariat on Monday.

"We talked about the repatriation of Bangabandhu's fugitive condemned killer Noor Chowdhury but they (the Canadian Government) have some problems which will not be resolved instantly, it may take more time," he said.

"It is the verdict of our highest court to execute the killers of Bangabandhu and we will continue our efforts to implement it through dialogue with the Canadian government", he said.

According to UNB, the Minister said according to the Constitution of the country it is President's responsibility to appoint the Chief Justice and only he can say when the CJ will be appointed.
