Teachers from different non-government teachers’ training (TT) colleges have organised a grand rally in Dhaka to press for their five-point demand including Monthly Pay Order (MPO) system.
Private Teachers Training Colleges Teachers’ Samiti recently arranged the rally at the auditorium of National Press Club in the capital.
Dr Muhammad Nazrul Islam Khan, president of the organisation, presided over the meeting, while Sheila Bernadette Gomez, general secretary of the association was also present, says a media release.
Vice-Presidents Fatema Khatun, Ramzan Ali and Mujahid Fakir, Organising Secretary Md Babul Hossain and its treasurer Shahida Akhter also joined the rally among others.
At the grand rally, they pressed their demands include providing home and overseas training facilities for all the teachers, setting up digital laboratories in every non-government TT College.
Dr Nazrul said that the non-government teachers’ training (TT) colleges started under Dhaka University in 1992. Currently they are governed by National University.
He said the high school teachers, who received training from the non-government TT colleges, are now getting all monthly pay order benefits, but they remain deprived of such facility.
The teachers and staff of the organisation have been demanding inclusion in the MPO list for a long-time, he said.
While assurances were made of meeting their demands every time, the government was yet to take any measure to end their sufferings, he added.
The five-point demands are:
--Inclusion of the non-govt TT college teachers in MPO system.
--Providing home and overseas training facilities for all the teachers.
-- Setting up digital labs in every non-government TT college.
-- Allocating permanent land for non-govt TT colleges.
-- Ensuring residential facility for all teachers and employees.
