Non-govt teachers threaten tougher movement

One-hour work abstention from July 23 to July 26 if demand not made

Teachers and employees of non-government educational institutions threatened tougher movement if their demand for nationalsation of non-govt educational institutions is not met.

Bangladesh Non-Government Teachers' and Employees' Forum came up with the threat at a press conference at the Jaiya Press Club on Friday morning.

The teachers' leaders said in the national budget of fiscal year (FY) 2018-2019 there is no specific allocation for nationalisation of non-government educational institutions, reports UNB.

Md Saidul Hasan Selim, president of the organisation said, On January 29, the organisation called off their 20-day demonstrations and hunger strike programme following the government assurance of meeting their demand for nationalisation. But the government did not came up with any announcement to fulfill their demand.

He announced that they will observe one-hour work abstention from July 23 to July 26 if no announcement is made over nationalisation of non-govt educational institutions immediately.

Saidul also said on August 15 they will announce tougher agitation programme to realise their demand.

Among others, general secretary of the organisation Md Abdul Khalek addressed the programme.
