'No unregistered Rohingya in Bangladesh now'

There is no unregistered Rohingya in Bangladesh, said Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Wednesday.

The minister came up with the statement while replying to a question from Awami League MP Mohibur Rahman Manik (Sunamganj-5).

"Some 11,18,576 forcibly displaced Myanmar nationals (Rohingyas) who entered Bangladesh have already been brought under the biometric registration," he said.

"At present, there's no unregistered Rohingya in Bangladesh," he added, reports UNB.

Asaduzzaman said there are stations for biometric registration of newly born babies of Rohingya nationals who stay in Bangladesh.

In reply to another question from Awami League MP Jahan Ara Begum Surma (Women Seat-32), the Home Minister said some 1,596 people condemned to death are in different jails of the country as of July 1, 2018.

Of them, 43 are women, Asaduzzaman told the House.
