No quota for first, second class govt jobs: Review body

The quota review committee has recommended abolishing the quota system for first and second class government jobs.

Should the cabinet approve the recommendation at its next meeting, the gazette will be issued about this, Cabinet Secretary M Shafiul Alam, who is heading the committee, said this at a press conference at the Secretariat on Monday.

As the quota reform movement intensified, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on April 11 announced that the quota system would be abolished from the whole government job spectrum.

Almost three months later on July 2, the government formed the seven-member quota review committee, giving it 15 working days to submit a report about this.

The committee was given 90 more days as it failed to submit the report within the time frame.
