The National Museum of Science and Technology (NMST) has received around 300 fossil parts of different prehistoric dinosaur species which will soon be displayed at the Biology Gallery of the museum.
A Bangladeshi expatriate from Canada Jobayer bin Sarwar handed over the dinosaur fossil parts to the NMST Director General Muhammad Munir Chowdhury at a ceremony held at the museum in the city’s Agargaon area.
About 300 fossil parts of different dinosaur species like Cambrian, Ordovician, Silurian, Devonian, Carboniferous, etc have arrived the country recently, according to a press release issued by NMST.
These fossils include teeth, footprints, egg parts, bone marrow of dinosaur, ammonites, snails, and oysters.
The fossils have been collected from 30 countries around the world which will be displayed at Biology Gallery of the museum as per geological chronology.
Speaking on the programme, the NMST DG said, “The prehistoric fossils will expand the arena of knowledge on biodiversity of the world among the learners, which will open new avenue of fossil research in Bangladesh.”
