A newlywed woman was found hanging at Kanchamoni village in Baliadangi upazila on Monday, according to UNB.
Police recovered the hanging body of Mariam Khatun, wife of Waliur Rahman of the village, in the afternoon.
Mokabberul Haque, officer-in-charge of Baliadangi Police Station, said Mariam, daughter of Dabijul of nearby Moralbasti village, was married off to Waliur Rahman, son of Kazi of the Kanchamoni, barely one month ago.
On Monday, locals found Mariam hanging from the ceiling of the house of Abdul Based, who was the intercessor of the marriage, and informed the matter to police.
Later, police recovered the hanging body and sent it to local hospital morgue for autopsy.
Police suspected that Mariam might have killed herself over marital discord with her husband.
