Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Anisul Huq has said that the new judges will be appointed soon to both the Appellate Division and High Court Division of the Supreme Court.
He came up with the observation on Tuesday while talking to newsmen after addressing inaugural function of 21-day training course on e-procurement for joint district and sessions judges and equivalent officials at Judicial Administrative Training Institute (JATI) in the capital.
The minister said, "Once, the Appellate Division ran only with three judges. I think judges appointment at the division would be made considering its workload. The appointment process would probably go on for first couple of days of the next month. Apart from this, gazette for appointment of people selected through 10th judicial service would be issued in this month."
He said it was the dream of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to establish a modern judiciary, adding, "Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina too has the same dream. For the first time in country's history, we are sending judges abroad for training."
He added, "The government led by Sheikh Hasina is working relentlessly to build a developed Bangladesh. Procurement process is connected with developing the country. Government wants to ensure transparency and accountability in the procurement process and that's why it has introduced e-procurement. Judges in the future will have to dispose of cases related to this so they have to have good idea about Public Procurement Act, rules and e-procurement."
BSS said JATI Director General Justice Khandaker Musa Khaled presided over the inaugural function that was addressed, among others, by additional secretary of Law and Justice Division Md Mostafizur Rahman.
