New Danish envoy calls on PM

Newly-appointed Danish Ambassador in Dhaka Winnie Estrup Petersen made a courtesy call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday.

During the meeting, the envoy said her country wants Myanmar to take back their Rohingya nationals, reports BSS.

“Myanmar should take back its Rohingya nationals from Bangladesh,” the Prime Minister's press secretary Ihsanul Karim quoted the ambassador as saying during the courtesy call on at PMO this morning.

He said the Prime Minister put emphasis again on repatriation of Rohingya people from Bangladesh.

The premier, he said, highlighted her government’s steps for rehabilitation of the persecuted Rohingya people particularly explaining their relocation plan to an island which is being developed in Noakhali to give them temporary shelter.

Sheikh Hasina also talked about the country’s internal political process when she said “we want to flourish democracy further in Bangladesh”.

Estrup highly appreciated Bangladesh’s tremendous socioeconomic development under Sheikh Hasina’s leadership.

PM’s Principal Secretary Md Nojibur Rahman was present on the occasion, among others.
