A tribunal in the district on Wednesday sentenced a man to life term imprisonment for raping two girls in 2017.
Natore Women and Children Repression Tribunal Judge Imdadul Haque found Yakub Ali of Sriramgari in Lalpur upazila guilty of rape and jailed him for life.
The court also fined him Tk 0.1 million (one lakh), reports UNB.
According to the prosecution, Yakub took two girls to a bamboo cluster after alluring them of giving chocolates and violated them on November 27, 2017.
Later, the victim’s parents filed a case with Lalpur Police Station.
Police arrested Yakub from Ishwardi in Pabna district, two days after the incident. Police submitted a chargesheet against Yakub in 2018.
