Narayanganj mosque blast: Probe committee blames illegal gas line, unauthorised electricity connection

Illegal gas pipeline below surface, unauthorised electricity connection and ‘negligence’ and ‘ignorance’ of the mosque committee were the causes of Narayanganj’s mosque blast incident on September 4, according to probe committee report.

The report also said, allegation of seeking bribe by Titas employees for killing the gas leakage proved to be ‘wrong’.

The findings of five-member Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Ltd (TGTDCL)’s probe committee report were handed over to State Minister for the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources (MPEMR) Nasrul Hamid Thursday afternoon.

However, Mr Hamid, while addressing a press briefing at the secretariat, said no one can avoid the responsibility of the incident.

The MPEMR will go through the TGTDCL’s probe report and cross check the issues to bring the culprits into book, he said.
