Namaz-e-janaza of two UN peacekeepers held

The Namaz-e-janaza of two Bangladeshi UN peacekeepers, who were killed in Central Africai, was held with military honour at Dhaka Cantonment on Friday.

Chief of Army Staff General Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq attended the Janaza, among other senior officials, said an ISPR press release, reports BSS.

Later, the Army Chief, Navy Chief Admiral Nizamuddin Ahmed and Air Chief Marshal Abu Esrar placed wreaths at the coffins of the soldiers. Later, the bodies were sent to their respective villages for burial.

A plane carrying the deceased arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport this morning.

The two Bangladeshi UN peacekeepers embraced martyrdom in a road accident

that took place in Central African Republic on May 26.

The deceased are soldier Arjan Hawleder, 34, from E Bengal Faridpur and soldier M Ripul Mia, 35, from Div Locating Battery Artillery (Rangpur).

They were deployed to ensure security of a convoy of military and civil vehicles. The accident occurred as the driver of a wood laden heavy vehicle lost his control over the steering in Yaloke area.
