An unidentified armed mugger allegedly looted Tk 2.3 million (23 lakh) from the Badda branch of Premier Bank at gunpoint on Monday, reports UNB.
An armed man entered into the branch of the bank at Link road at around 04:30 pm while the bank employees were closing the day’s accounts.
Later, the culprit took the branch manager hostage pointing a pistol and forcibly trapped other employees in the volt room and looted the money from the cash counter of the bank.
Confirming the incident, Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Badda Police Station, said that a case was filed on Tuesday with the police station over the robbery and an investigation was going on.
“But, it is doubtful how an armed man himself can make eight bank employees and three security guards hostages at gunpoint?, the OC told the news agency.
