A female worker was killed and four others sustained injuries when a chunk of mud collapsed on the group of worker while they were extracting stone from a quarry at Jaflong in Sylhet's Goainghat upazila on early Monday.
Officer-in-Charge of Goainghat Police Station, Hillol Roy said the mudslide left Champa Das (17), daughter of Ranjit Das of Netrokona, dead on the spot and four other workers wounded.
Police later arrested the owner of the stone quarry, Nanu Miah, president of Purba Jaflong union unit of Jubo League, reports a local news agency.
