Move to repair damaged roads by two weeks

Road, Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has said the damaged roads across the country will be repaired within two weeks.

The minister came up with the remarks while talking to reporters at a view-exchange meeting at the secretariat on Monday.

Quader said that already tender for the work has been floated and the renovation works will start soon.

Besides, Dhaka-Sylhet and Chittagong-Cox's Bazar 4-lane projects will be implemented with the government's own fund.

"The construction works will be started within the tenure of the incumbent government," he said.

The minister said that installation of the second span of the Padma Bridge was delayed for technical reason. It is expected that the second span will be installed by January, he added.

According to UNB, the construction work is going on with the target to open the bridge by December 2018, said Quader.

"However, it might be delayed as we are trying to ensure quality," said the minister.
