The number of motorcycle registrations across the country witnessed a drastic decline in the last eight months of the current calendar year compared to that of 2019, BRTA data showed.
A total of 179,140 motorcycles were registered in Bangladesh between January and August 2020 while it was 275,857 during the same period of 2019, according to the BRTA (Bangladesh Road Transport Authority) data.
Along the way, the country's capital Dhaka also witnessed a major decrease in registration of such mode of vehicles.
A total of 46,697 motorcycles were registered in the capital during January to August of 2020 while it was 67,410 during the corresponding period of 2019, the transport regulator data showed.
According to the BRTA data, a total of 406,897 motorcycles were registered across the country in 2019 while it was 395,603 in 2018.
