Mobile-phone operators Grameenphone (GP), Robi and Teletalk have failed to meet the benchmark of 4G data speed in Dhaka division, excluding the areas under two city corporations.

However, only the Banglalink could meet the benchmark, according to a Quality of Service (QoS) test drive conducted in Dhaka division by the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC).

The state-owned Teletalk has the highest percentage of call drops among all operators in the country, said a report on the test drive published on Wednesday.

The BTRC set the benchmark 4G download data speed at 7Mbps.

GP, Robi and Teletalk's speed were found to be 6.99Mbps, 6.41Mbps and 2.80Mbps respectively.

The test was conducted in a 1,309km distance in 13 districts and 39 upazilas, and Gazipur and Narayanganj city corporation areas.

GP, Robi and Banglalink have 0.29 per cent, 0.23 per cent, 0.32 per cent call drops on average whereas Teletalk has 2.59 per cent call drops. The benchmark for the average call drop rate is less than 2.0 per cent.

The test drive sampled 3,117 calls of GP, 3,034 of Robi, 2,782 of Banglalink and 3,067 of Teletalk.
