A man, who served as a poling agent for a ruling Awami League candidate, was stabbed by unidentified criminals in Jhikorgacha upazila of Jashore on Sunday night.
Abdul Matleb Sheikh, 35, the agent, claimed he was attacked by supporters of a rival candidate who contested the election with pineapple symbol.
Matleb acted as a polling agent at the Ganganandapur Secondary School. He was attacked at Sutipur Bazar while returning home after 10:00pm.
He is undergoing treatment at Jessore Medical College Hospital.
Abdur Rajjak, officer-in-charge of Jhikorgacha Police Station, said a case was filed in connection with the attack. "We're trying to arrest the criminals," he added, reports UNB.
