Miscreants gun down Rohingya man in Cox’s Bazar

Some unidentified miscreants shot dead a Rohingya man at a Rohingya camp in Thaingkhali area of Ukhia upazila on Friday night.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Yusuf, 35, leader (majhi) of no 2 block of Tajnimar Khola Rohingya camp.

“The incident took place when some miscreants swooped on the camp and opened fire on a man named Yusuf. Yusuf received severe injuries in the firing and immediately rushed to the nearby Hospital at 10 pm where he succumbed to his injuries,” said Abul Khayer, officer-in-charge of Ukhia Police station.

“The reason behind the killing could not be known as the miscreants fled the scene immediately in face of resistance from the locals. Operation is underway to nab them,” the OC added.

Meanwhile, a gang of miscreant attempted to shoot another leader Arif Ullah of Balukhali camp-2.

Later, local Rohingyas chased the miscreants and caught one Mohammad Alam along with a pistol, according to UNB report.

Local Rohingyas claimed that a group of Rohingyas who are against their repatriation are carrying out the attacks on the leaders of the Rohingya camps.
