Miscreants gunned down a Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) leader at Kakalodi area of Sirajdikhan upazila of Munshiganj on Monday evening.
The victim, Shahjahan Bachchu (55), was former general secretary of district CPB and owner of Bishakha Publication, reports UNB.
Additional Police Superintendent (Sirajdikhan circle) Asaduzzaman said four miscreants on two motorcycles opened fire on Bachchu just before the iftar, leaving him dead on the spot.
The body was sent to Munshiganj General Hospital for autopsy, he said.
