Ministry issues order on state honour of freedom fighters

The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs has issued a state honouring order, 2020 on the death of the heroic freedom fighters, and thus repeals the state honouring order of 2005, reports BSS.

The new order states that the name must be on any one of the proofs published on the website of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs (www.molwa.gov.bd) in order to show state respect, an official handout said on Sunday.

Evidence or proof includes Indian list of freedom fighters, Indian list of freedom fighters (Padma), Indian list of freedom fighters (Meghna), Indian list of freedom fighters (sector) and Indian list of freedom fighters (army, navy and air forces).

Lal Muktibarta includes Lal Muktibarta (Churanto Lal Boi) and Lal Muktibarta Soronio and Boronio.

Gazette includes a list of war-wounded freedom fighters, list of titled freedom fighters, civilian(Besamorik) gazette, Probashe Biswa jonomot gazette, list of conceptually senior officers, Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) gazette, list of artists and artisans of Shabdo Sainik-Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra, list of freedom fighters(Birangona), list of Swadhin Bangla Football Team Players, list of NAP-Communist Party-Students Union, Special Guerrilla Forces and freedom fighters, Freedom Fighter Gazette for Bishramganj Hospital who served or worked there, list of President and Ministers of Government of Mujibnagar Government and list of Mujibnagar Employees and gazette regarding any other nominal list issued by the Ministry on the recommendation of the Jatiya Muktijoddha Council (Jamuka).

Bahini Gazette includes a list of names of war-wounded army freedom fighters, list of names of war-wounded crippled freedom fighters (Border Guard Bangladesh), list of names of war-wounded freedom fighters (Border Guard Bangladesh) Gazette, nominal list of names of army freedom fighters, list of freedom fighters of the air force, list of freedom fighters of Nou Commando, list of freedom fighters of Bangladesh Rifles (now BGB), list of freedom fighters of the police force and list of freedom fighters of Ansar and village defence forces.

The order said that in case of death of any heroic freedom fighter, the concerned Deputy Commissioner or Upazila Nirbahi Officer(UNO) should be informed.

In case of death of any heroic freedom fighter in Dhaka who has been awarded a title or wounded in war, Bangladesh Muktijoddha Kalyan Trust should inform the concerned Deputy Commissioner or UNO.

Muktijoddha Sangsad, relatives or any citizen can inform the concerned administration about the death of the heroic freedom fighter.

Even if the news of death is published through news media or social media, the administration will be able to take action by verifying it. 

The order further said that the heroic freedom fighter should be buried according to his last desire and according to religious principles.

For the indigent freedom fighters, arrangements have to be made to provide grants from the funds allocated by the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs.
