A mild heat wave is sweeping over Rajshahi and Nilphamari districts and it may continue, according to a bulletin of Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) issued on Tuesday.
However, it forecasted that light to moderate rain/thundershowers, accompanied by a temporary gusty wind, is likely to occur at many places over Chattogram and Sylhet divisions.
Rain may occur at a few places over Khulna, Barishal and Mymensingh divisions, it said.
The low over Northwest Bay off Odisha coast now lies over coastal Odisha and adjoining areas, it said, adding that it is likely to intensify.
Monsoon trough runs through Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, the centre of the low Gangetic West Bengal and thence northeastwards to Assam across the southern part of Bangladesh. Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate elsewhere over North Bay, as per the bulletin.
It also forecasted that day temperature may rise slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
In its outlook for the next 72-hour, it said rainfall activity may increase at the end period.
